The Ocean House
A prized piece of York Maine Real Estate
In 1977 Don Rivers purchased the ocean house with his brothers and a friend. After 10 years of running the ocean house hotel, Don Rivers developed the Ocean House properly with Bob Dunfey into a first-class condominium complex with the exterior look and feel of the original hotel.
Atlantic House
Luxury in the heart of downtown York
Originally built in 1887 on York, Maine’s Short Sands Beach, Rivers By The Sea purchased the Atlantic House in 2003 and restored it to its former glory as a grand beach hotel with an elegant, luxurious restaurant.
Don Rivers led the project. At the time it was a derelict structure and he transformed it into an elegant beachfront destination, becoming an integral part of York Beach’s renaissance.
The design of the building’s exterior was clear to the team as the architects were able to work from an extensive library of historical photographs. The interior, however, presented many more challenges, as several pieces had to fit together to make it suitable for the new owners. Retail spaces had to be integrated into the first-floor design,
