York
Harbor is a located at the mouth of the York River along
the rocky coast of Maine. It is beautiful resort area rich in history
that retains the early colonial architecture of it's first settlers
mingled with the grand Victorian homes and inns built when tourism
flourished in the area during the late 19th century and the town
and beaches were a fashionable resort area.
The love affair between summer visitors and York Harbor continues to this day. York has experienced many changes but still
retains its small colonial town atmosphere and retains many 17th
and 18th century homes. There are numerous activities to be found
in the area including boating tours, lighthouse viewing, deep sea
fishing, dining on lobster, sunbathing and swimming in the ocean
from York Beach's two main beaches known as Long Sands and Short
Sands.
York Harbor as well as all of the York communities
are convenient To New England’s major centers of commerce,
culture, and education. Boston MA is an hour’s drive to The
south, Portland ME is 45 minutes to the north; to the west is Nashua,
Manchester, and Concord NH. The New Hampshire Lakes Region and White
Mountains, which offer recreational opportunities such as boating,
fishing, golf, hiking, and skiing, are a little more than an hour
away. The entire world is as close as Logan International Airport
in Boston. York’s year round population is about 14,000. Summer
residents add an estimated 26,000 to the year round population.
