Long Sands Beach

Long Sands Beach is located just north of Short Sands beach on Route 1A. This beach stretches wide and long to the water and is popular for walking, swimming and surfing in the designated surfing area. There is a public bathhouse with toilets located nearby on Oceanside Avenue and there is metered parking along 1A. Lifeguards are on duty in the summertime from June to Labor Day

Short Sands Beach

Short Sands Beach is located just after Cape Neddick on Route 1A. The beach has many public facilities including a bathhouse, toilets and outside showers. There are lots of things to do nearby for recreation including a playground with basketball courts, arcadea, shopping, restaurants and York's Wild Kingdom Amusement Park and Zoo Lifeguards are on duty in the summertime from June to Labor Day and there is metered parking along 1A.

Cape Neddick Beach

Cape Neddick Beach is located on Shore Road and is also known as Passaconaway Beach. Neddick is believed to be an Algonkian word meaning "solitary" referring to the nubble of land isolated from the peninsula, where the Nubble Lighthouse is located. This is a very small, secluded beach with no facilities and limited parking. But this is an excellent tide pooling beach at low tide and a great view of the lighthouse, a popular subject for shutterbugs.

York Harbor Beach

York Harbor Beach is located on York Street, across from the York Harbor Inn. It's less commonly known among tourists and is more of a "locals beach". This beach is secluded and great for tide pooling for seacreatures in the craggy rocks along the shore. It also features the Cliff Walk, a public path that goes up the cliff to the top past historic homes that overlook the ocean. Parking is limited but no charge. Lifeguards are on duty in the summertime from the end of June to Labor Day.
